Out for a walk at the beach with Max. He has spotted another dog along the beach and was contemplating whether to go and speak to it or stay and chase his ball.

I was out for a walk with Max to the beach at Monifieth and I spotted one of the groynes covered in green seaweed. After a high tide, the black seaweed had been left in these patterns, like letters or symbols. The evening light gave the green of the seaweed a nice colour which contrasted with the black seaweed.

Out for a walk in Dundee one lunchtime I decided to go to City Quay for a look. I saw this view of the underneath of the Tay Road Bridge and I liked the symmetry of the legs of the bridge receding into the distance.

Layered clouds over Tayport. I was out with the camera at sunset and saw these clouds over Tayport lying is layers in varying shades of blue.

After the long spell of good weather we’ve had, the last few days have been wet and stormy, yesterday in particular. I was at the beach yesterday with Max and the waves were crashing up the beach. We were at the beach for a walk tonight and although it was mostly dry the sky was still dark after the storm. Crossing the foot bridge over railway line I took this photograph of the houses and the still moody sky.

Harrogate street scene. We were in Leeds for a few days over the summer, Susan and Tom were going to a cricket match at Headingly, so I decided to have a day out in Harrogate on the train. We had been for a walk in the gardens and a wander round the shops and we had stopped for a seat to get our bearings and decide what to do next. This is the street scene from where we were sitting. I converted it to monochrome in Lightroom to remove some of the distracting colours.

This week instead of my images we have two photographs taken by my son Tom when we were on holiday in Aviemore. The first is of the old pack horse bridge at Carrbridge. Tom took this one in portrait format to include the nice cloud above.
This is a photograph Tom took of the old iron bridge at Craigellachie, again he took it in portrait format to include the blue sky and grey cobbles.

We are on holiday in Aviemore this week. We went for a walk round Loch Morlich with Max and I saw this view looking over the Scots pine forest towards the mountains.

This week I was trying out some macro photography using a set of extension tubes I got. This is some detail from a Portugese wine bottle label, a happy fellow driving a train. It is surprising just how close I could get to the bottle and the camera still focused perfectly on the individual ink droplets making up the picture. The focal length is 50mm.
